2014 Draw Down

Hello Everyone, We will begin the 2014 Draw down procedure around November 1st. Please try and get all the boats out by then. The ramp is lower than normal, so please use caution when pulling out. Also please use 4WD when pulling boats and jets skis out to cut down on the scrubbing out on the ramp.
Thanks,

Sugden 2013 Draw Down

Hello everyone. 2013 has presented itself with yet more challenges to Sugden Reservoir!!!!
It has come to our attention that the new gate has a small flaw. The flaw being that the grout that seals the gate to the wall of the chamber let go. We now have Blow-by behind the gate!!!! The Spencer Dept. of Engineering is aware of the situation and has had some companies come in to see what can be done.

We were able to use the gate for the draw down, but the problem still remains of closing it down completely!!

The Estimated repair cost could be around $10,000!!! The Town as usual has no money to fix this problem. We may have two solutions.
#1 we need to get this matter put a warrant on Annual meeting agenda and show up to vote in the appropriate funds to fix this.
#2 is that we as an association can raise $5,000 and have the town match us to have the repairs done.

Either way it will need to be repaired. We will also be looking to have an Emergency stop manufactured in Aluminum to stop all water flow and to be able to do repairs. We had success with a made up wooden one, but had trouble removing it as the ropes ripped through the plywood. I believe we can store this at the gate house to have for any other further problems that may arise.

On the plus side I do believe we had plenty of exposure to the shore line and plenty of freezing weather to frost out some of our nuisance weeds on shore.

I will be posting this address on the bulletin boards for all of your reference. We will be trying to do more through Blogs to keep the printing costs down in the future.

That's it for now, more to follow in the spring.
Thanks,
