This Dam Thing!
On September 20th we attended the Selectman's workshop for approving money articles to the special fall town meeting. We handed them 192 certified signatures to force the warrant on ARTICLE 21. With some discussion on how broke the town is, they really had no choice but to put the article on the town meeting agenda. The town selectman Chair, Seth Fancher had objections to spending the money. I cannot emphasize enough the need to be at this town meeting on October 7th, 2010. We will still need to vote on approving the 130, 000 dollars needed for repairs on our dam. We believe that in order to get this passed we will need at least 150-200 registered voters to vote Yea! So get out the word get out your family and get the word out to everyone you know in Spencer to come out and vote Yes on Article 21.

I can not make the meeting. PLEASE make this point at the meeting. It is in the best interest of the town and all its taxpayers to approve the dollars for the repairs to the dam. If the repairs are not approved and made (especially after the meeting vote) the waterfront land owners land values will be immediately impacted and all of the Sugden waterfront land owners should, and most will succesfully file for TAX ABATEMENTS. The values of waterfront properties are rightfully assessed at a higher value and those values will be significantly lower if the lake is not fully recreational and instead just a large puddle. Under this scenario, the OTHER tax payers of Spencer will then have to pay more in taxes to make up for the shortfall. If they DO THE MATH, ALL tax payers should realize this expense is a good investment for the town and ALL of its tax payers. THANKS...GOOD LUCK...
